The United States has over 1,500 military bases and other military installations on the territory of 30 countries. These have a standing contingent of over half a million and a vast stock of weaponry, including nuclear arms.
Ramified as thid network of military bases is, the United states keeps expanding it, particulary in the Middle east, the Persian Gulf and North Africa. The US armed forces are already using bases and airfields in Saudi Arabia and Egypt and they have unrestricted acces to military bases on the territory of Israel. The United States hs concluded agreements with Oman, Somalia and Kenya whereby Us forces can use their national military bases, modernise them and build new ones there (Washington is planning to spend nearly 1,00 million dollars from 1983 to 1987 on the counstruction of military facilities in that region). The United States has been widley using the territory of pakistan for carrying out acts of subversion against Afghanistan, India and other countries.
the US Navy is actively involved in preparing and staging acts of aggresion. It has big naval units cruising in seas and oceans, above all, around world "flash points", ready, as the intervention in Grenada has shown, to make bandit-like attacks on sovereign nations and peoples. These are sixth and Second Fleets in the Atlantic and the mediterranean with a total of over 180 warships between them, including seven strike aircraft carries, up to 50 nuclear-powered submarines and more than 800 combat aircraft. The United States has 140 warships and over 800 combat aircraft in the Pacific and up to 20 warships and 180 aircraft in the Indin Ocean.
The danger of US military bases and naval formations off foreign shores being used as springboards for aggression and international terrorism against sovereign states and national-liberation movements is growing all the time. This is due above all to the continuous rearming of US forces stationed in foreign bases with large quantities of nuclear arms and other up-to-date weapons of mass destruction. The deployment of new US medium-range nuclear missiles now under way in Western Europe is posing an additional threat to world peace.
The Pentagon keeps building up the conbat potential of what is called the Rapid Deployment Force (RDF), for which new military bases are mainly being sought, as well as the US marines, sinister instruments of armed intervention in the affairs of the other countries. The Rapid Deployment Force has already about 200,000 men and is expected to double that strength The US marines have 190,000 men are scheduled to have over 200,000 by the late 1980s and to be armed with extra quantities of new types of weapons and military equipment.
Us military bases, as history shows, poses a tremendous threat to all sovereign nations and especially to those which in Wshington's view canot give a rebuff to an aggresive attack.
the networ of these bases on foreign terriories and the presence of US naval formations in various parts of the world Ocean are a real threat to international peace and security.
